About
Approach
Mediation is not a one-size-fits-all process, and in the context of domestic violence, it can cause serious harm when applied without care. My approach is trauma-informed and safety-focused, built on the understanding that conflict between people who have experienced abuse is rarely balanced, and pretending otherwise does more damage than good. I do not facilitate "mediation" where there is active risk, coercive control, or a power imbalance that could compromise a person’s safety or ability to speak freely. Where mediation is appropriate, my role is not to push for resolution or keep the peace at any cost. It is to help people understand their situation clearly, navigate what is in front of them, and make decisions that are informed and genuinely their own. I work at a pace that respects where each person is at, focusing on nervous system regulation, honest communication, and practical next steps. My experience is shaped by both professional training and lived experience. Safety, boundaries, and real empowerment are not add-ons to what I do. They are the foundation. All my services to survivors are free through RISE.
