About

Vernon Stearn is an n experienced and accredited family mediator and Restorative Practitioner with 20 years in both legal sector, dedicated to helping resolve disputes. Vernon view mediation as a transformative process to resolve conflict, restore peace, and find a workable path forward. Guided by empathy and patience, my approach ensures that every party feels heard and respected. Vernon believe mediation is not merely about settling disputes, but about preserving dignity and unlocking common ground. Vernon's goal as a mediator is to guide parties toward practical solutions and restored respect—helping them transition from conflict to clarity.

Approach

Philosophy I believe that conflict, while challenging, presents an essential opportunity for understanding, growth, and constructive change. My practice is grounded in the conviction that every person deserves to be heard with dignity and respect. Mediation is fundamentally a process of self-determination. The most sustainable resolutions are not imposed from the outside; they are built from within by the parties themselves. As a mediator, my role is to create a safe, neutral space where defensive postures give way to genuine dialogue, enabling participants to uncover shared interests and chart a viable path forward. Approach & Methodology My structured approach guides parties through the journey from impasse to resolution: • Preparation & Psychological Safety Establishing clear ground rules, strict confidentiality, and mutual trust to ensure every participant feels secure expressing their true perspective. • Narrative & Interest Identification Facilitating active listening to move beyond rigid positions and uncover the core needs, values, and concerns driving the dispute. • Collaborative Problem-Solving Reframing issues to encourage joint option generation, testing potential solutions against practical realities to ensure fairness and feasibility. • Sustainable Resolution Formalizing clear, actionable agreements that deliver closure, restore respect, and provide a durable foundation for the future. Commitment Whether addressing complex interpersonal disputes, workplace conflicts, or commercial disagreements, my commitment remains constant: to serve as an impartial guide, honouring each voice while steering the process toward clarity, restoration, and lasting peace.
