About
Approach
While healthy disputes are part of a normal relationship, disputes during separation and divorce are amplified. Mediation is a safe place to vent highly charged disputes, often fuelled by strong emotions. Having said that, mediation is also essentially a forward-looking process in which we address what is on the table. So, while a certain amount of venting is healthy, I steer parties away from what was done previously to where we are going now. What is in front of us, and what needs to be mediated to result in either the full resolution of all the disputes or a resolution that provides clarity on some of the disputes. I focus on relationship preservation, especially when children are involved. Moving from married to divorced means big changes for the whole family, and negotiating a solid parenting plan and parenting relationship is crucial. I do this with a view to making the co-parenting roles of each party long-lasting, in the best interests of their children at all times.
